About the area:
Downtown and Downriver comprise South Detroit, the base for General Motors Corporation. With immediacy to the area’s primary waterways, South Detroit is the region’s most industrialized area pumping business and life into the surrounding communities.
Area residents stay just as busy at play as Detroit’s downtown is vibrant once again. With the Greektown and Foxtown entertainment districts, Comerica Park home of baseball’s Tigers, Ford Field home to football’s Lions and Joe Louis Arena home to hockey’s Red Wings. Down town Detroit is also host to Campus Martius Park and a number of casinos and cultural attractions such as the Detroit Institute of Arts and Detroit Opera House, Detroit has been able to attract upcoming national events such as the 2006 Super Bowl and 2008 NCAA Final Four.
