With the high demands of business travel, frequent travelers should take a moment to make themselves aware of the new technology and mobile apps that could make their lives easier and their business more efficient. Here are some unique developments within the business travel industry to help manage a variety of components related to corporate accommodations.
One-of-a-kind gadget for gentlemen corporate travelers
A recent article in American Express OPEN Forum provides a list of compact gadgets to enhance travel. Making the list at the No. 1 spot are Polished Oval WiFi/2GB USB Cufflinks for gentlemen travelers. These original cufflinks double as a flash drive and a WiFi hotspot for travelers to link up with their laptop, tablet or smartphone.
Mobile apps transforming business travel
Another recent article in American Express OPEN Forum detailed four apps that could be "invaluable additions to your traveling arsenal," assisting business travelers with packing, navigating foreign cities' transportation systems, discovering local gems for dining and getting around language barriers.
Packing Pro is an app that allows travelers to put all their needs into one list to allow travelers to quickly gather all necessary components for approaching trips. A unique feature of this app is that it also provides sample lists for different travel scenarios and can quickly customize lists to the travelers needs based on different factors such as the expected weather conditions at the destination, the number of those traveling and whether the trip is domestic or international.
AllSubway is an app that provides travelers with color-coded maps for 151 different metropolitan transit systems, all with zoom capabilities and available for offline use.
Another app for the business traveler is LocalEats, which provides dining guides for restaurants across the U.S. and in select international cities, highlighting independently owned venues. The app can also be used to make reservations find coupons and even to book a taxi.
Triplingo is an app that is suggested to help the avid business traveler with language barriers that come with international travel. This app is a language guide that is personalized, with users answering a series of questions about the nature of their trip to get a language guide tailored for them.
Another mobile app to keep an eye on is Carlson Wagonlit Travel's CWT To Go, which won the Global Business Travel Association's Most Outstanding App 2012 award for innovation in business travel, Travel Daily News International reported. This app automatically synchronizes offline and online CWT bookings and alerts users of flight notices and other trip-related information.
