Make Thanksgiving travel plans early for better deals

For Americans, Thanksgiving is a time to be with family. Unfortunately, not every relative lives in the same place, which makes meeting up at serviced apartments a convenient solution to bringing everyone together. Even if travelers have already reserved their accommodations, they need to make sure they book their flights, trains or car rentals soon, as many people have yet to do this, according to new research from discount travel website Hotwire.

From October 26 through 30, Harris Interactive conducted a survey of 2,231 adults on the behalf of Hotwire, according to a press release. Based on participants' responses, a significant number of them – 78 percent – have not booked their Thanksgiving travel. As prices will rise and seats will fill up the closer to November 22 travelers get, Hotwire officials advise against waiting until the last minute.

"Booking last-minute travel can be risky during these busy times, but it's not impossible to nab a deal," said Clem Bason, the Hotwire Group's president. "Procrastinating travelers are just going to have to be a bit savvier and more vigilant in order to score savings over the next few weeks."

If travelers get their Thanksgiving booking out of the way, they will have more time to start planning a memorable holiday spent with family inside short term rental apartments.
