Spend Thanksgiving in serviced apartments

For many families, getting together for the holidays is not as easy as it used to be. Whether fathers work half of the year in a foreign country or one of the kids attends college on the other side of the country, it can be difficult for everybody to coordinate their schedules and enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal together.

While families could always turn on their computers and spend the day together over Skype, they could also book serviced apartments at a convenient halfway point. In this type of setting, families can experience the next best thing to being back home.

Before individuals consider securing short term rental apartments this Thanksgiving, they need to make sure they book their flights early. The holiday is fast approaching and, as a result, ABC News reported that the cost of airfare is rising. In fact, the price of flying this Thanksgiving is expected to be 3 percent higher than it was in 2011, according to recent Priceline data.

However, there are ways to save this Thanksgiving. Jeff Klee, CheapAir.com's chief executive officer, told The New York Times that when individuals choose to fly could make a difference. If they travel from Tuesday to Saturday over the Thanksgiving holiday, they may be able to save as much as $70 on a round-trip ticket.
