Here are the top 5 things you won’t want to miss.

Point State Park

Located at the tip of Pittsburgh’s “Golden Triangle,” Point State Park commemorates and preserves the historic heritage of the area during the French and Indian War. Though once a bustling industrial zone, the area deteriorated significantly towards the end of World War II and was developed into park land in 1945. The park is open all year round, from sunrise to sunset, and offers several opportunities to wander, explore, and play. Park activities include boating, fishing, three hiking trails, historical markers and fixtures, as well as educational programming on the history of the park and conservation efforts.

Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium

The Pittsburgh Zoo opened its gates in June of 1898, providing the visiting public a glimpse of plants and animals never seen before. With exhibits such as Water’s Edge, an interactive installation that reflects a small coastal fishing village, and The Islands, a 22,000-square-foot exhibit that offers an immersive island atmosphere with native animal habitats, the zoo and aquarium have welcomed one million guests yearly for the past two years.

Mattress Factory Museum

Founded in 1977, this unique art museum was created to support artists-in-residence in their development of site-specific installations. Since it’s opening, the museum has presented and commissioned new installation and performance pieces by more than 650 artists. It has served as a catalyst for the revitalization of Pittsburgh’s North Side, rehabilitating nine properties that had been previously deemed as non-contributing properties. While several exhibits are on rotation, the museum also houses permanent fixtures in each of their properties to enjoy again and again. You will never experience the same museum twice at this interesting Pittsburgh gem close by short-term housing near Point Park University.

The Andy Warhol Museum

One of four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, the place of pop artist Andy Warhol’s birth, The Andy Warhol Museum holds the largest collection of the late pop artist’s artworks and archival materials. In addition to Warhol exhibits, the museum features several educator and community programs for young artists, outreach and neighborhood partnerships. An interactive experience, The Andy Warhol Museum is the perfect place to relax and create.
