The street is approximately 100 meters long and runs parallel to the canal the ‘Oudegracht’ . The building in which the apartment is located is a monumental building and is situated on the City Hall Bridge. In Roman times, there used to be a small village from the Roman fort Trajectum and later the medieval business district ‘Stathe’. The street owes its name to the ‘Buurkerk’. In 1586 there was decided to take down the choir of the church, because it was an obstacle for traffic that would run right through it. On the place where they took down the choir, they build the southern part of the ‘Choorstraat’. On the pavement on the street you will find nowadays the floor map of the former choir and a memorial stone.
